RECORD STORE PARIS: the Walrus opened its doors on Record Store Day, April 19th, in 2014, and obtained its alcohol license on June 21st, French day of Music (Fête de la Musique). Off to a good start!
The Walrus acts as a bar, a vinyl and CD record store as well as a gig venue: a most unusual place!
Well-settled in its neighbourhood, it is now proud to welcome regular and loyal customers. The Walrus has become a meeting place as much as a shop, bringing together music-lovers, vinyl collectors or just people meeting there for a laid-back coffee or a gig, or just a browse.
Quickly, the Walrus began attracting artists, labels and journalists as well.
Since its opening, the Walrus has already welcomed quite an impressive line-up of artists: Richie Hawtin, Elliott Murphy, Baden Baden, Chassol, Adrian Younge, Laetitia Sadier, Xavier Boussiron, Gaspard Royant, Nadine Shah, Françoiz Breut… etc
While hosting a number of promotions, the shop was also lucky enough to greet within its walls : Dj Snake, Selah Sue, Hanni El Khatib, Baxter Dury, Django Django, Patrick Watson, Father John Misty, Liminanas, DIIV … Not to forget the Alcaline TV musical program electing the Walrus as its recording site for its daily “minute”.
At the Walrus, you will find: new records (LPs and CDs) in Pop, Indie-Rock, post rock, Psyché Rock and Krautrock, but also Country/Folk/Blues, Experimental, electronic and avant-garde music. A record for every taste! Accessories and products pertaining to the musical world are also for sale in the shop, which aims at prividing customers with both a cutting-edge offer and a more mainstream one.
The Walrus being a bar, it is possible to have coffee there, or try a refreshing alternative: Fritz Kola, Bio-Apflelsaftschorle, Bio-Rhabarbersaftschorle, Ginger Beer… You can also enjoy a draught Grolsch with friends , or a Brooklyn IPA. Or wine, whisky, vodka, etc… Once again, the offer is broad!
From time to time, the Walrus also provides its customers with more unusual services and offers for a record store in Paris : hair-dresser, tattoo artist, vintage clothes sale, label’s corner, flash sales.
